A home for racing at Tras di Montaña

The venue

Tras di Montaña

A flat, hard-packed sports field on the edge of Kralendijk, open to the prevailing easterly. Roughly 200 by 250 metres of racing surface with room for a proper upwind and downwind course, a competitor setup area, race HQ and public viewing.

Ten minutes from the airport and the waterfront, and the future home of the Caribbean Open.

Blokarts racing on Bonaire
The project

Building a permanent racing facility

BBRA is working with the island's public bodies to turn Tras di Montaña into a permanent home for blokart racing in the Caribbean: a prepared surface, proper infrastructure and world-class timing.

The surfaceCleared, graded and rolled into a fast, safe racing surface the trade winds can work with.
The boundaryA removable perimeter fence that keeps racing and spectators safely apart, and doubles as sponsor banner space.
Race baseA container home for race gear, club karts and the sponsored fleet, right at the track.
Timing and live coverageElectronic lap timing, our own live-results software, and live video so every race can be watched anywhere.
Progress will be posted here as each piece lands. Businesses can back the build through facility sponsorship.
Race day

Coming to race? Here is the drill

What to bringHelmet if you have one (the club has spares), closed shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and water. Gloves are a good idea.
Check the windThe live reading from the track weather station is public: track weather, live.
Race numbersYour number for the day goes on the pulley whip at the back of the kart. Everyone gets theirs at sign-on.
Lend a handRace days run on members: a race officer, a scorer, flags and a finish-line eye. Volunteering a slot is part of the fun, and the fastest way to learn the rules.
While the Tras di Montaña facility is developed, club race days run on the landsailing track in the north of the island. Race-day announcements always say where the start line is.
